Did your nurse practitioner move to a new practice? Do you want to stay with your provider but feel unsure about the next steps? Following your psychiatric nurse practitioner is now easy in Maryland. Keep reading to learn more.
On April 25, 2024, Maryland law stopped employers from using non-competition agreements. Non-competition agreements prevent your provider from informing you where the provider went. This new law means that if your psychiatric provider moves to another practice (even outside of Maryland), their former practice must inform you of their new location when you, the patient, ask.
According to House Bill 1388, “On request of a patient, an employer of a [provider]… shall provide notice to a patient of the new location where [the provider] will be practicing.” Some employers will not provide this information, so you, the patient, must ask for it. Remember, the provider’s past practice cannot ignore your request, or the past practice will face violating the new law.
Contact the last practice your provider was at. Ask where your provider went. If the practice refuses to tell you, point them to House Bill 1388. Of course, M.I.N.D. Health and Wellness is happy to provide care if you cannot find your previous provider. Contact us to get started today.
